What is now called “The Shoppes at Richmond Mall” is no longer the hub of generic corporate stores that it used to be, but I’m actually okay with this. What you can find in the mall today are mostly local stores and small businesses. As an advocate for entrepreneurship I’m excited about this opportunity for the small businesses to have and hope to see more of the vacancy in the mall continue to fill, creating a very uniquely Richmond experience for visitors.
During the day the mall typically has steady foot traffic from folks who use its climate controlled size as an indoor walking track. One lap around is a little over a quarter of a mile. We’ve used the mall for this ourselves when my son was toddler age and needed out of the house but the weather was too cold for the park.
Special events are also hosted at the mall such as craft fairs, a winter location for the local farmer’s market, and the Rich City Comic and Pop Con. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of vendors that were packed in to the comic-con for 2019 and look forward to visiting again in 2020. Check out details for that event here:

As of January 2020 the Richmond Mall included the following businesses. I have not patronized all of them but tried to include a complete list with reference links where I easily found them.

Celebration Station
I really like this party store and the guy that works in there is always very helpful and friendly. Even when I have purchased big balloons online I still take them in here to fill them up the day of the party. Definitely recommend!

NOTE: They changed locations away from being near the hair salon and are now down closer to the furniture store but they are still in the mall.
Chrissy’s Country Cousins Cafe
So far, all I have purchased here was a breakfast biscuit with bacon, egg, and cheese but it was great and so was the price. Their other menu options look delicious too and I know I’ll be back for more.

El Mejor Mexican Restaurant
I sometimes get carry-out here to take home for dinner and their lunch buffet has been good too.

Gillums Restaurant
This family friendly bar and grill has a large variety of menu options. I particularly like their wings and thin-crust style of pizza (I like deep dish pizzas too, it’s just not something offered here). Visit their website for their full menu:

Hayes Group Auctions
Rick Hayes was our realtor and helped us get moved in to Madison County in 2014. In addition to real estate his team has made use of the mall to host his online auctions that offer a lot of unique goods at great prices. Even when the store isn’t open for people to tour around you can usually get a pretty good look at some of the items coming up by looking through the windows.
